Neane's Review Cat Soup is a very unique anime. It is a One episode OVA and I have to say that it is very beautiful in a very twisted way. There is a much deeper underlying meaning that may take several viewings to grasp. Personally, I believe that the moral and story of Cat Soup is just how far would you go for someone you love. In Cat Soup, it is simple; you run after death and go to the ends of the Earth. Violence: While it is unrealistic, there is a bit of violence in this anime. For example, in one scene a woman is sawed into little chunks with a giant buzz saw and then sent flying around the room, spattering the main characters with blood. She is however later put back together as part of a magic act. One of the main characters has their arm bitten off and then reattached, etc. While not realistic, the violence is might be highly disturbing for viewers below the age of 16. Also, a man ties a bird to a table, so it can only fly around it circles. He then proceeds to light the bird on fire. Also, when the cats are in a boat, they proceed to cut up a pig while it is still alive. Language Details: Zero Nudity: There are pictures of a naked women seen on some walls, there is a man that attacks the two cats while wherein a leather outfit that is somewhat sexual in nature. And there is a a time scene in which a woman can be seen aging from childhood to old age. Religious: The entire anime is about a brother trying to save the soul of his sister that was ripped in two. There is also a scene in which a being [who is assumably God] does some stuff that includes changing the laws of time, and he later puts the Earth on a plate and it is assumed that he eats it. |
