Aldnoah.Zero (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: This show contains lots and lots of fights and does not think twice about showing you gunshots hitting victims quite hard. Also, episode 8 is literally solely about the continuous and painful torture of one person. There's lots of blood and plenty of deaths... it's a war show after all.Nudity / Sexual Content: While this may be a pretty conservative show as a whole, the one extended scene from episodes 9 to 10 contains 2 specific girls who are in the shower. While most of their private parts are avoided, we do get glimpses of breasts. Potentially problematic theological themes: The Martian people rely on a power source called Aldnoah and use it to power their ships and machines.Other potentially problematic themes: Overall this is a pretty dark and twisted show that has many troublesome situations. By the way, what also makes this show so dark is Spoiler: the ending. If you need a happy ending, you are not going to find it here. Code Geass , I found that Aldnoah.Zero gave me something somewhat similar. It made me think about the topics that animators put forth and really try to reason out the situation (often better than some of the characters). For some, the many faults of the anime might deter too much from the experience. However, if you are able to look past the show's many faults, you might find it somewhat enjoyable like I did. However, this is a show that many will hate and few will love. Thank the ending for that especially. I don't know if season two will be able to save anyone's broken hearts. When it comes down to this, I often think back to Valvrave and hope that Aldnoah.Zero will dissolve that obvious comparison quickly. So, yes. It is on par with both the best and the worst shows at the very same time. Make your plans accordingly.

Fate Stay night (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: Since this is a Holy Grail war, there is bound to be violence. While a lot of the cast is inflicted with wounds here and there, the main protagonist gets more than his fair share. You have a couple of spears going through the body, blood splattered on the ground, people pulling their arms out of chains driven into their arms and such, and etc. Nudity / Sexual Content: At the beginning, we have two scenes where we see Saber in the shower and bath with obviously no clothes on. It's mostly the backside or whatever is normally visible over the top of the water in the bath. The main character immediately turns away upon seeing her in this state by accident, but Saber doesn't understand why he feels so embarrassed (thinks it okay for him to see her like this since she is his servant). Near the end, Spoiler: one of the girls, who is explained as being a bunch of circuits made into a human, is offered as a sacrifice to be turned into the Holy Grail. As such, she is shown completely naked (not really detailed though) several times. When main character rescues her, he makes a cloth to wrap around her. Potentially problematic theological themes: This war contains magic... and tons of it. Also, there is some church organization that is incorporated into this war.Other potentially problematic themes: Nothing much if I recall correctly. There are definitely some dark moments with arms grabbing at main character in one scene. It's mostly just a tad dark overall.Fate/Stay Night because it was able to give me something new in this great fantasy world. The music was decent and the fight scenes were not bad. Overall, it's solid.Fate/Zero and want something more from this world, then this should be a fun watch. If you want something of the same quality, I'm afraid to say that you might be discouraged. You will not be getting the glorious animation and battle music from Fate/Zero . While a few of the characters return, most of the new characters that are introduced are inferior to the ones that they replace. It's not that Fate/Stay Night is bad. In fact, it's a lot better than many other series. It's just that Fate/Zero is so much better.Fate/Stay Night , I recommend wholeheartedly its prequel, Fate/Zero . There is no reason to not watch that series if this one was appealing at all. Also, it will enlighten you on many of the scenes that reference to the previous war.
Fate/stay night - Unlimited Blade Works (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: It definitely has its fair share of violence with the fight sequences between the characters. Also, one scene with a ripped out heart that is still beating alone merits the 5/10 rating for this category.Nudity / Sexual Content: Compared to other additions to this series, this department in fairly mild. One boy tries to pull a move on one of the main characters, but he is unsuccessful.Potentially problematic theological themes: Movie is based on a Holy Grail War that is centered around magic, magic circles, etc. Also, at the center of this war, there is a church running it.Other potentially problematic themes: There is some swearing, and it's a little dark. Fate/Zero , I do believe that this movie is a step up from the Fate/Stay Night series. Normally, its harder to tell a story in movie form due to the lack of time, but this one does it perfectly. It changes the plot a little and focuses on a different theme - making it an interesting and fresh watch for those that have watched the series that it is based off of. Certain main characters take a supporting role while other characters take the lead. The music is better, and the visuals are smoother. Even though this is better than the Fate/Stay Night series, I do recommend watching the series first. Even though the movie covers its bases, it does so a little quickly and not as thoroughly. You will have a better appreciation of the film after the series. Also, it wouldn't hurt to watch Fate/Zero before this as well. Not only is Fate/Zero of better quality, but it also is the predecessor to this film in terms of time line. There will be some references that will make more sense after seeing this.

Haikyuu!! (Jump to title )Review Haikyuu!! is a series that is a joy to watch. You really don't have to worry about any sexual, problematic theological, or any other questionable themes. You have your limited comedic violence (which is really nothing to worry about). While it is a sports series, it holds entertainment value even for those not interested in sports or volleyball in particular. For me, it converted me into a volleyball fan - big change from not caring at all for the sport before the series. The magic of this series is that it is well-written and presents developed characters, good themes, and nice plot. The visuals and music just adds to the great experience. I highly recommend you give this a shot whether you like sports or not. This little giant just might catch you by surprise.
Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom (Jump to title )Review Even though this was a pretty violent and dark show, it was very well put together. The characters are great, and this really helps to set the tone for the epic final season.Violence/Gore: There is a great deal of fighting since it is a samurai-genre story. The battles are pretty detailed and depicted blood loss is great.Nudity / Sexual Content: Most of the time, the people are completely covered. There is one instance though when all of the men are getting a well-check and only have a cloth around them.Potentially problematic theological themes: They talk about some Eastern religious groups.Other potentially problematic themes: This work is overall dark in nature. There is some drinking and mild swearing. Also, a medicine is developed that gives the person exceptional strength and vampire impulses.

Hamatora (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: Yes, though this show might seem bright and fun (especially thanks to the animation), there is quite a bit of violent scenes to look out for. People being beat up is what normally happens at least twice per episode. However, the worst scenes are when certain characters are put at gun point and shot repeatedly both on screen and off screen. Another is when a person is blown up from the inside and blood sprays everywhere... truly, an unpleasant sight. Thus, this is probably the main topic to consider when debating whether or not to watch this series.Nudity / Sexual Content: This show has a little fan-service in a hot spring episode where guys are topless and girls are scene by guys on the way to the spring (they have either just started to remove their shirts or have towels wrapped around them). There is also one beach episode that has lots of people in swimsuits.Theological Themes: I believe, one character becomes a "priest" or something to atone for some sins in his past. His "special power" involves a prayer. Also, speaking of special powers, most of the main characters have a special power called a "minimum" that gives them great strength, amazing intellects, speed, and more.Other potentially problematic themes: This show has its main characters have their base at a bar... so of course there is going to be alcohol. Drugs play a role as well. Being a mystery series, it is easy to bring in a darker side to this bright and colorful show. Overall, some of the topics concerning equal rights for people with or without super powers, the harsh childhoods of some of the characters, the betrayal and clearly evil villain of the series, and much more make this show somewhat "dark". With themes this serious, it should be viewed by only those that can handle this type of material.
His and Her Circumstances (Jump to title )Review Overall, this was a decent series. You have your typical smart students, but they at least have to work for their scores (unlike some other anime). The production value is definitely lower, but the animation company made the best of what they had and pulled it off well. Hoozuki no Reitetsu (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: This is hell - so expect lots of violence and punishment especially from the lead character, a highly positioned person in hell. Also, some of the more disgusting and graphic things are either censored, just not shown but heard, or just related by word.Nudity / Sexual Content: One old lady in hell is often shown skimpily - if at all - dressed. She doesn't find anything wrong with it and makes a business out of it, but this is hell... Also, another central character is shown as a playboy that takes in girls to his house 24/7. Some jokes are a little inappropriate.Potentially problematic theological themes: While the comedy and references may be amusing, the fact that this is hell should be always kept in mind. Sometimes, hell seems more like a modern day society run astray. It can sometimes be hard to really think of this place as hell, but the fact remains that it is. This should be taken into serious consideration before watching.Other potentially problematic themes: There is drinking and excessive drinking at points between two main characters that are competing. There is some swearing.

You have a varity of characters and arcs to work with, and a detective who can do them while trying "to do nothing". There is a hot spring episode, but it's not detailed. Also, one of the mysteries has to do with a "murder mystery" movie. Granted, this means that it is all acting - so it shouldn't be a problem except for those who can't deal with any violence.

K (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: Since this is a story about several different clans fighting each other, expect violence, wars, and death among them. There is some blood, and one traumatic gun shot scene is referenced over and over again. Nudity / Sexual Content: The only time that this is an issue is when this cat that transforms into a girl decides to transform. When she gains a human body, it is always unclothed, and she can unfortunately be seen running around naked for several minutes before clothes are put on her. Also, this "transformation" happens not once or twice - but several times.Potentially problematic theological themes: All the clans have magical powers which they fight with. Other potentially problematic themes: This show can be somewhat dark as it watches the demise of certain clans, the shattering of friendships, the wandering of a criminal, the loss of memories, and more. It does have some swearing and bar scenes. There is some smoking.Steins;Gate has and likewise picks up to speed as the series progresses. In fact, I was shocked by how much I liked the series in the end and by how the series was able to wrap everything up so neatly. Thus, my number one tip for anyone watching the series is to not give up in the first 1-3 episodes since the rest of them are incredible. Also, if you care for character development, don't be too surprised if you find that there isn't much of it here. Only certain characters get this special treatment (obviously, the ones that are most important to the story).

KILL la KILL (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: Normally, with the amount of violence that a series like this has, I would say that anyone who is even a little afraid of seeing violence/gore would not like this show. However, even though we have gushing/spraying blood, bodies flying in pieces, beating hearts being pulled out of bodies, and so on in the majority of the episodes, the animation makes it look more like an old arcade game than it really is. Now, that's not necessarily a good thing when you think about it and it really doesn't make that much of a difference with the intensity of it all, but it's worth noting. Nudity / Sexual Content: This area will be even more disturbing for most than the former simply because 2 main characters transform into these incredibly skimpy outfits, the rebel forces are called "Nudist Beach" for a reason (they wear weapons over private parts at most - there normally has to be some type of light to serve as a censor), a mother especially fondles daughters' naked bodies while being naked herself, and most people are naked when stripped of their clothing through defeat in battle. The show mostly doesn't see anything wrong with stripping. In the beginning, a set of clothing appears to "rape" the main character. Though it is not clear and may be interpreted differently, some may think that girl & girl romance is being set up especially towards the end. Oh, yes, and this all is normally as frequent or more frequent than the battle scenes.Potentially problematic theological themes: Clothing is looked upon as being something to take over the world - some might think that clothing is being nearly adored. Clothing possess humans and are alien creatures that suck out life of possessed people.Other potentially problematic themes: The show is kind of dark. The mother is willing to sacrifice her children for her experiments - she sees them basically as lab rats. There is some drinking, a little smoking, and some humor that can be considered improper. One main character is focused on revenge.Spoiler: that's exactly what the main character does over and over... yeah ). Some may find the exploration of a world focused on clothing to be insightful and stimulating. Overall, it's a hard one to recommend, but it's an easy one to enjoy while overlooking its numerous flaws.

spoiler talk about some sexual things such as mentioning masturbating or perverted dreams and have to deal sometimes with changes of sex when they switch bodies. One girl starts stripping at one point when she was having a hard time controlling her desires because of the Heartseed.
spoiler one girl's mother gets married several times. Some of her partners die and others are divorced/seperated with her. The heartseed does not seem to have a problem with inflicting damage upon others and finds it instead amusing and interesting.
Kuroko's Basketball (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: Some boys on the court were once picked on.Nudity / Sexual Content: High school boys take off shirts for fitness exam by coach. They are often pictured in baths, but you only see the upper half. One main character is seen walking into the bath with a towel in front of his private parts - nothing of them is seen.Potentially problematic theological themes: One character is presumptuous and believes in good and bad luck and "lucky items".Other potentially problematic themes: Some swearing.
Kuroko's Basketball 2 (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: One of the central characters gets picked on by this one nasty player in a game. This leads him to seriously injuring himself. One player threatened with scissors for speaking out of line and interrupting a group meeting.Nudity / Sexual Content: There is one hot spring episode where we see the players naked (mostly their backs). Also, one American girl comes over to visit a player and ends up being found once or twice in a bed with little clothing on.Potentially problematic theological themes: You still have that player from the first season who believes in lucky items and luck in general.Other potentially problematic themes: There is a good amount of swearing especially during the brief American flashbacks where "Engrish" is said (Japanese attempting to talk in English).

Log Horizon (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: Log Horizon has battles, but they aren't very violent - looks more like an arcade game in my opinion. Also, you have the fact that the characters can't die and are "revived" at the local church. That being said, slapstick violence happens especially when a certain ninja gets mad at another character (normally, the violence is limited to kicking him so hard that he flies).Nudity / Sexual Content: This series really doesn't have anything for this area except the bathing suits that they briefly wear during the series.Potentially problematic theological themes: With this being a game, there are some magical powers in the series.Other potentially problematic themes: There is mild drinking.Log Horizon was being always compared to the controversial SAO . To be honest, the only thing that is similar is that both stories revolve around people being stuck in MMORPG games. This series definitely doesn't have those "too exciting and engaging" moments that SAO has - but it also doesn't have SAO 's lows.SAO . The music is great, and the opening is very catchy. The atmosphere is very pleasant and sweet. The colors are vivid, and the art is nice. Like I said before, a very solid series.SAO made more sense to me - the bodies aged here. I guess you can say that Log Horizon isn't concerned with tying the game and real worlds in at least the first season. Maybe the second season will clear some things up.

I do not remember the reason why (I do remember that Haru misunderstood... greatly). You end up seeing only the backside of his figure.

No. 6 (Jump to title )Review While the details have been covered very well, I do want to emphasize that the relationship between the two main characters may be troublesome for some. Yes, they share two kisses, but they didn't seem really romantic. Also, nothing further really happens between the two characters to raise eyebrows. In fact, the whole relationship is up for debate on whether it's really romantic or just a very deep friendship in trying times. After all, both characters owe their life to the other. Thus, just use your own discretion when it comes to this.
Noragami (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: It mostly is slapstick violence. However, one character gets hit by a vehicle early on, and the camera quickly flashes to a new scene. Also, there are some flashbacks to some samurai style fighting with people getting cut down. When one boy is having trouble with bullies, another character gives him a knife and the option to solve with violence (he doesn't in the end). Finally, there are a few fight scenes in the end where characters get mortally wounded.Nudity / Sexual Content: There is a bath scene where barely anything is visible. One boy sleeps with a girl when he is scared of the dark and has some dirty thoughts. In fact, we learn when he is having these thoughts because it affects another character. Two male characters go into the women's restroom for their "job" while another female goes in. Also, towards the end we see one girl without clothes - but it's not detailed. I guess you can say that she was in this floating state of "unconscious". Potentially problematic theological themes: Main character is a god, and the show revolves around gods. The gods' helpers are those that have "passed on" but are still "around" in this world. They take various forms. The gods have to keep the unclean spirits out of the world. One character is on the cusp of life and death and has both a spirit body and normal body. Other potentially problematic themes: There is some drinking, smoking, and swearing. Also, when the bully finds himself in a corner, he wets himself.

It encourages developing better relationships between different races, not becoming a shut-in, and the importance of standing up for what you believe in.

Stigma of the Wind (Jump to title )Review Violence / Gore: I wouldn't say that it's over-the-top in violence. However, the people fighting do get some bruises and wounds that bleed. The real problem lies in a couple scenes that I have listed in spoilers below.Spoiler: Kazuma remembers the death of his loved one (by the way, I don't know if they ever officially "married", but I know that they lived together and promised to protect each other): he was beaten up pretty badly and was only able to look on as the girl he loved was killed before his eyes as a "sacrifice". She was completely naked during this with strips of blood wrapping her body as she underwent extreme suffering (one thing is a constriction spell).

I could be wrong though.

They are SO messed up. Also, someone puts something into another person's drink so that the person can no longer perform.

Also, the main character makes the dumb mistake that his predecessor in the first series did: slept with someone out of wedlock (not even girlfriend). There is also a hot spring episode where two girls and a boy have their own private spring, which they all go in at the same time... Potentially problematic theological themes: Nothing.Other potentially problematic themes: Well, same as the first series: messed up relationships. The main character has two love interests, and he Spoiler: becomes the boyfriend of one while hoping for, kissing, and sleeping once with the other .
