Brief Description: http://myanimelist.net/anime/1292/Afro_Samurai Afro Samurai (2007) is an action anime produced with a western audience in mind and with a focus on production values: super-slick and fluid animation, a superb soundtrack (if you are into rap/hip-hop) and voicing of the main character by none other that Samuel L. Jackson. The story follows Afro, the eponymous main character as he carves a path of vengeance, destruction and gore through hundreds of enemies seeking his #2 headband, which gives him the right to fight the #1, the strongest fighter in world, who gained that title by killing the previous #1, Afro's father. Finding and killing him is Afro's sole purpose in life. Though only 5 episodes, the series manages to pack more graphical violence than similarly themed and longer series, and there's also a good amount of nudity and explicit sexual elements. Only recommended for 18+ and those with a strong stomach among them. |
