The story focuses on a troubled young schoolboy, Alfred Izuruha, who is infatuated with mobile suits without realizing the scope of the war going on outside his colony, and Bernard Wiseman, a rookie Zeon pilot shot down over Side 6 who befriends Alfred and recruits him to help with his team's special mission. The first of many Gundam OVAs/short series, Gundam 0080 is an intimate view of war and its effects on the people thrust into it.
